What can I expect

After meeting with you to discuss blood management options, our doctors, nurses, and other support staff work together to create a treatment plan. We offer various therapies to help reduce the potential need for blood transfusions before, during, and after surgery.

Our team helps prepare you for surgery by screening you for anemia, a condition that develops when your blood does not have enough healthy red blood cells. If necessary, we provide treatment for anemia and ensure adequate levels of hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that transports oxygen throughout the body. Doctors “build up” your blood before surgery with iron supplements and highly-effective medications that stimulate red blood cell production

Benefits

Benefits of patient blood management include lower rates of the most serious postoperative complications, including heart attack, stroke, and infections; decreased risk of immunological complications and allergic reactions; less exposure to blood-borne viruses and infections; and no risk of receiving the wrong blood type.

We understand that some patients prefer bloodless treatment options; that’s why we designed the Bloodless Medicine Program at Integrated Medical Healthcare Services, PLLC. Our Bloodless Medicine Program is specifically designed to meet the health care needs of anyone who—for health, religious, or personal reasons—wishes to avoid the use of blood transfusions.
